5 TIPS TO HELP BATTLE LUST
===

[00:00:00]

Introduction and Personal Testimony
---

Are you struggling with lust or maybe know someone who is? , You're in the right place, because I struggled with lust almost my whole life, but Jesus set me free and delivered me from that spirit before I get into it, my name is Erica and welcome to Where Is Your Voice podcast. Today's topic is five tips to help with battling lust.

Understanding Lust
---

Firstly, what is lust? Lust is a strong desire for something forbidden, especially when it leads you away from God's will, what is commonly linked to sexual sin, which is what we will be speaking about today, but it also can apply to power, money, control, or anything we idolize. And one thing I noticed is people who tend to suffer in sexual lust also use money and power to [00:01:00] fuel their sexual addiction.

Tip 1: Call It Out
---

Okay, so the first tip is, call it for what it is, meaning do not listen to what the world says. Your friends say you must listen to what. God says about lust because the more we try to minimize this sexual sin, the harder it will be to break free from it. Lust is a fleshly spirit that does not come from God.

In Romans chapter one, verse 24 through 27, therefore, God gave them up in their sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worship . And served, created things rather than the creator, creator who is forever [00:02:00] praised.

Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to their shameful lust. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women. And were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their era.

As you heard, you must call it out for what the Bible says about this sin because people entrapped in this desire are lying to themselves about the true nature of this sin. So you have to expose it and then seek deliverance from it, because since it is a spirit. The only way to get rid of an unclean spirit is to pray for deliverance, and Jesus will deliver you because your eternity is at state.

And this is just not from me, but [00:03:00] it's biblical. In one Corinthians, chapter six, verse nine, it reads are, do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither the sexual immoral nor . Idolaters nor adulterers know men who have sex with men. This is how I know that Jesus will rightfully deliver you if you pray for deliverance, but it's still a process because we are tempted every day, all the time.

Now, listen, this isn't about condemnation. This is about deliverance. And to be delivered, you have to expose the sin for what it really is. Lust is not love. It's not harmless. It's a spirit that wants to pull you away from God, but Jesus can deliver you from it just like he did for me. So the next four tips I'm going are going to [00:04:00] aid you in your deliverance from lust.

Tip 2: Know Your Triggers
---

Tip number two is to know your triggers and try to remember what your, what triggers you the most. For me, for instance, I had to stop following certain people on social media, watching certain shows, talking to certain friends, getting off dating sites, reading certain books. The friendships, you will have to cut.

A lot of them off because a lot of my old friends actually kept me in this sin longer because every time I would tell them that I'm refraining from sex, they would talk me out of it like, no girl. You have to find someone to hook up with from time to time. Or my friends would just openly talk about how many people they were messing with in full detail and that would trigger me.

So I had to cut off almost. All of my friends, which was the best choice I made because they weren't even good friends for [00:05:00] me. Any friend that is pulling you away from Jesus, you need to cut them off. Matthew 5 29 reads, if your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

This is Jesus speaking, and he's being serious. He is stating that whatever is causing you to stumble, get that thing out of your life as soon as possible. Then in Luke chapter

corret: 14, ,

Verse 26, if anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes. Even their own life, such a person cannot be my disciple.

This is Jesus speaking again. He is a God who cannot lie. This will happen. You will have to cut off people [00:06:00] if you truly wanna be set free and walk a pure life with Jesus, because some of those people who are close to you are gonna tell you things in contrary to what Jesus is saying. And once you give that life up of impurity, some of the closest people to you will.

S buys you for it in the same way they hated Jesus. But the great part is Jesus will be with you to get you through it. When your friends and family may stay, they may leave. But one thing you know about Jesus, he isn't going anywhere. And to me, that's worth walking away from people who are trying to tarnish my wop with Jesus anyway.

So tip number three.

Tip 3: Purpose of Your Body
---

Understanding what your body is supposed to be made for. Your body is not made for sex outside of marriage. This is not why God designed us to be out here sleeping with whomever we please. Our [00:07:00] body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and is made for good works not lustful works. In one Corinthians chapter six, verse 13.

It says, food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them. Both. The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord and the Lord for the body. And in Ephesians chapter two, verse 10, for we are God's handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I believe understanding that your body is made for something so much more than just sex will make you wanna treat that body better and be more selective about who you have around your body and and who's inside of your body, or vice versa. When I realized my body wasn't just for pleasure.

For purpose. It made [00:08:00] me wanna protect it. You're carrying something holy. You don't just give that away, not to anyone. Not until God brings your husband or wife. Tip number four.

Tip 4: Expose the Root
---

Now this one is where the breakthrough really begins. Ask Jesus to expose the root of the issue of this sin, because a lot of times when we are battling a stronghold is usually not the actual stronghold we are battling.

For instance, with me. I had issues with sex, but it wasn't that the issue wasn't with sex. I felt as though the only thing I had to offer a man was my body. So the root wasn't sex, but more so insecurity. And Jesus heals us at the root and the root usually will expose a mountain of other issues. So once you're healed from the root, a lot of areas will be healed as well.

And you can ask yourself, [00:09:00] if I stop having sex, what do I think will happen? Or what is it about sex that I feel that I needed? And if I don't get it, what. The lie, am I believing about myself? When you start to dig deeper in the why, you'll expose the root of that issue, which can be anything but one thing I know for sure at the bottom of that root is a lie.

You are believing. And believing a lie will have you break down, but the truth will bring up breakthrough in Hebrews chapter 12, verse 15. See it that no one falls short of the grace of God, that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. And in Matthew chapter three, verse 10. It says the axe is already at the root of the tree, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

So [00:10:00] these verses are about repentance and how God goes to our root for deep cleansing.

Tip 5: Know Your Identity
---

And last but definitely not least, know who you are. You are not a slave to sin. You are not cheap. You are not defined by your past. You are royalty. A child of the most high king. When I truly embraced this, that's when the chain started falling off.

. I stopped letting people have access to me just because I felt lonely or need a validation. Why? Because I am the daughter of the king. This is what set me free, is knowing that I am a woman of God, and in that I know my body is caring, precious cargo, and my value is more sub.

Substantial than sex. Sleeping around and not being married is actually a slave mentality, like the pagans, and I'm royalty. I'm a queen. And the mere thought of allowing [00:11:00] someone to even see me naked or sleep with me is beneath me, unless it's my husband who is worthy to see me in that way, because nobody else is and they never will be.

Jesus paid a high price for this body. He paid a high price for me to have eternity with him. In Galatians chapter five, verse 22 to 24. It reads, but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control against such things. There is no law.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh with passions and desires. First John, chapter three, verse one. Reads, see what great love the father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God and that is what we [00:12:00] are. The reason the world does not know us is us is that they did not know him.

And in Galatians chapter four, verse four through 10. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his son, born of a woman born under the law to redeem those under the law that we might receive adoption to sonship because you are his sons. God sent the spirit of his son to. Our hearts, the spirit who calls out Abba Father.

So you are no longer a slave but God's child, and since you are his child, God made you also an heir. Formally when you did not know God, you were slaves. To those who by nature are not Gods, but now that you know God are rather known by God, how is it that you are still turning back to those weak and miserable forces?

Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? So [00:13:00] as I read, you are not a slave, you are royalty. So you must walk in the calling that you are called and not as a slave .

Conclusion and Prayer
---

I hope these tips help to encourage you, but please know it is a process. But a process that Jesus will help you get through.

Just make sure you thank him now, like you're already start thinking Jesus for what you know he is about to do. Because if he did it for me. And many others. Please note that you are a cakewalk. It's nothing he can't do or won't do to get you to heaven. Jesus loves us and he wants the best for us, and that sex life is a life of misery.

What has chasing a fleeting pleasure done for you? Ask yourself that truly what has [00:14:00] chasing a fleeting pleasure? Got you.

I am gonna go ahead and pray, but I just wanna say, if you go ahead and leave me a message or you can send me an email, I will definitely add you to my prayer list as well and pray for you too, because I do know how hard this sink in be to get through. But also I know that it can also be truly easy if you just submit under God's word and take some of the steps that I just had said as well too.

But I will. Love to pray for you too. All right. Here we go. Lord, we come to you in the name of Jesus. Thank you, God. Just I wanna say thank you first off, for everything you have done for us, Lord. And we know that you want us to have a life of more abundance, Lord. And we know that in this world we have been lied to for so long, God.

And we are asking for deliverance right now, Lord. Deliverance from the lies that we have been told. [00:15:00] Deliverance for our passions and our desires, Lord, and we are asking that our desires. Decrease Lord, and your desires increase God and that you will deliver us from any spirit, God that is not aligned for your purpose and will God because you created us for good works, God, and we wanna.

In eternity with you as well, God. But we need you and every choice and every step on our life, Lord, we need you. So we are asking God for you to come through and aid us in this journey. God 'cause you. We know you well. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right. Thank you so much for tuning in.
